NAU receives $25 million contribution - the largest in its history

Our mission is to develop a comprehensive
residential university in Lake Havasu City.

A Letter from the Havasu Foundation President

Havasu Foundation President - Ralph TapscottThank you for your interest in our new university project for Lake Havasu City.

Our efforts continue to push for a four-year, residential university for our community.  Many local citizens have commented on how badly needed the economic diversification and boost would be for Lake Havasu City and the surrounding area.  We firmly believe that our vision will become a reality.

We have confronted the challenges posed to us over the past year by developing an extensive business plan that covers almost every aspect of this project.  We are evaluating similar campus projects, our specific site and the surrounding master plan, curriculums, student and parent acceptance, and the financial ramifications of a 500 student campus that we envision growing to over 4,000 students in a decade.  Our projections show this to be a financially viable endeavor.

We have enlisted the assistance of Huron Consulting Group (see http://www.huronconsultinggroup.com/servicecategory.aspx?serviceCatId=19 ), a nationally recognized higher education consulting firm, to review the content and methodology of the business plan, as well as, assisting with the formulation of our survey document and the resulting process and tabulation of results.  Once completed, this business plan will be distributed and marketed to a variety of education providers.

We firmly believe that we have a viable and attractive project.  The data we have been analyzing reflects that a 500 student campus could generate up to $9 million in annual tuition and state provided funds, and this can accumulate to well over $50 million annually with ancillary support and the multiplier effect as the money works its way through the economy.

We are approaching our annual meeting scheduled for January 29, 2009 and we will be seeking our members’ approval to further develop our Board of Directors and the Board of Directors will be seating a new set of officers.

I have enjoyed the opportunity to assist in this community project, and I believe it this project more than ever.

We invite you to explore the many ways you may be involved in this project. In order to serve your interest and progress in the HFHE mission, we encourage your questions and feedback.

Respectfully,

Ralph Tapscott
